The brand-new, cross-media, full-length theatre production THETA△ is an extended development of THETA, a 2023 graduate thesis by Tsang Wing-fai at the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. It explores the awareness and contemplation of life and death. The work is based on the author's personal experience of losing an intimate family member and the resulting perception of being in a 'time continuum', using bodily movements and textures, rhythms, and spatial installations to reconstruct a state of understanding the present.
Two years later, the work sets sail again. Choreographer Tsang Wing-fai collaborates with sound designer Yip Pui-wan and spatial designer Chan Mo to continue exploring the interdependence of body, sound, and space. Through bodily sensations, the virtual and real in space, the spatiality of sound, and the inversion of matter, the audience is invited to once again experience, explore, interpret, and enter a state of understanding 'being present.'
